For a few days each year I travel across state lines in search of the summer lightning storms that develop in the desert southwest. It makes for long, busy days in the car and thousands of road miles. Sometimes though, there is a gift at the end of the day when the clouds, sun and sky conspire to create something special.
Late on this day in remote eastern Arizona, it had been a very gray and rainy afternoon when the clouds began to part just before sunset. I decided to pull over, get my camera set up just in case (of course!), have a snack and enjoy whatever was going to happen. It’s not like I needed to be anywhere soon. For the following twenty minutes I was rewarded with this gift from the gods. As the sun dropped lower in the sky, finally disappearing behind distant mountains, the light changed constantly and culminated in this stunning sunset. It was a great way to end the day! It was a gift.

Love the colors. Driving into that sunset is truly a beautiful gift.
