Often, when I’m on the road, I try to schedule some interesting sights to visit while traveling. On the way home from the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque New Mexico, I dropped in on White Sands National Monument just outside of Alamogordo, NM. It’s a place I’ve visited before and the subject of one of my best photographs. If you are interested in minimalist landscapes like I can easily be, it’s a great site.
This image is a riff on that earlier image which is as much a study in design as it is a landscape. It’s a colorful sunset sky over one of the impossibly white gypsum dunes for which the park was named.
