Just before sunrise on this frosty spring morning, I piled out of my warm car into a crisp 27-degree chill to catch the full moon setting over the snow packed eastern face of the High Sierra. It had been a snowy and wet winter into the spring. On the floor of the Owens Valley, a recent storm left a bit of standing water which had frozen over and reflected the light of the moon.
