This is “Valley View” in Yosemite although there isn’t much of a view of the valley. The Merced River meanders through the foreground while the beginning of a winter storm reveals only a hint of El Capitan and Bridal Veil Fall/Cathedral Rocks.
I love the near black and whiteness of this scene and just the mysterious suggestion of the great valley walls behind. The light, atmosphere, bare trees and snow conspire to strip the color from the image even though it is indeed in color.
