Up a Tree

This is another of many favorite moments from Yellowstone National Park. Two very young black bear cubs scamper up a tree as the sow keeps casual watch. There was no imminent danger here, just a vigilant mother and playtime for the twins.

Incidentally, the term “Black Bear” refers to one of the three types of bears found in North America and has nothing to do with hair color. Black bears come in all kinds of colors besides black, including this cinnamon example. (“Brown Bears”, otherwise known as “Grizzly Bears” are one of the other bears found in North America and they too are found in different colors.)
