One of my favorite landscape subjects is moving water. There are many ways to render this subject with the camera. I can “freeze” the movement or let the movement appear as a “streaking” path of flow or render all of the motion as a diffuse fog. Of these, it’s the streaking that shows the path and structure of the motion that I find particularly interesting and beautiful.
In this winter image, the cold, rushing Merced River after leaving Yosemite Valley, tumbles through a gauntlet of snowy boulders as it makes its way towards California’s Central Valley.
