Corkscrew

Renn 1

The Corkscrew at the Laguna Seca racetrack in Monterey, CA is one of those legendary corners in racing that is on every serious driver’s bucket list. It’s basically an “S” curve that drops about ten stories after a quick and blind left turn at the top of the hill. You simply have to take it on faith.

In this image, captured this year at Porsche’s celebration of all things racing called “Rennsport”, a group of cars is beginning that leap of faith. Notice the shadow of the green car’s right front wheel which shows the tire is a good 6 inches off of the racing surface. That’s an indication of the corkscrew done correctly.
